Meet a Wedding Planner in London, Ontario- Dan Knight
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR COMPANY
I’m a person who absolutely loves helping people and put that passion into running Day 2 Knight events a full service wedding and event planning business. I help clients with all of the special moments in their lives from weddings to baby showers to birthday parties and beyond.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO WEDDING PLANNING?
I in all honesty was watching the movie “the wedding planner” and watched Jennifer Lopez act as a wedding planner and thought i would love to do that and help people. I have always had a passion for events thus Day 2 Knight events was born.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE JOB?
My favoUrite part of this job is that every event/wedding i work on is different. Yes the main principals are the same but each client brings their unique flavour to their event and i love seeing their vision come to life.
WHAT’S THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED, AND WOULD PASS ALONG TO OTHER NEW WEDDING PLANNERS JUST GETTING STARTED?
I have learnt a lot in the almost 7 years in business but the biggest lesson is to take people’s advice, feedback, etc along the way but ultimately go with your gut and don’t be afraid to be different and set yourself apart from the rest.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR NON-WORK-RELATED ACTIVITIES?
Sticking with my love for helping people my hobbies are volunteering with various organizations within the city in a number of different capacities.
ANY GREAT STORIES FROM WORKING WITH A CLIENT?
My greatest stories come from when i run a wedding planning contest and ask people to share their stories of why they need a wedding planner free of charge for their special day. The stories i get sent make it tough to choose just one but it’s such a rewarding thing for me to be able to do.
ARE THERE ANY TRENDS THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE OR WOULD LOVE TO SEE BRIDES LEAVE BEHIND?
I really love the creativity couples bring to their weddings whether it be on trend or not. It makes it less cookie cutter and more unique. I do really like the rustic trend too.
WHAT TIPS OR ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO COUPLES WHO ARE IN THE MIDST OF PLANNING?
The biggest word of advice i have is enjoy the experience and do everything you can to keep the stress to a minimum.
